Upon its introduction in 2020, the Czapek Antarctique was a refreshing injection into the market of stainless steel, integrated bracelet sports watches. This Rattrapante Ice Blue is the third iteration in the series, with a limited release of just 99 watches.
The dial is entirely openworked, revealing the split-seconds complication below the dial, in addition to the column wheel and satellite minute train, amongst other parts. While most dials can be difficult to decipher, Czapek makes use of contrast with dark and light grey sections, as well as white numerals against darker backgrounds.
It's clear that the name 'Ice Blue' is well-earned, as the minute chapter ring and sub-dials make use of smoky sapphire crystal that give the impression of icebergs floating above the sea of gears and levers below. For better visibility, the hour, minute, and sub-dial hands are in a lighter blue that contrasts against the brushed grey parts of the movement, while the split seconds hands are in blue and red respectively. The pusher at two o'clock allows the wearer to operate the chronograph functions.
The watch is fitted with the calibre SXH6, visible through the sapphire caseback. This is a movement developed in conjunction with Chronode, a manufacture that specialises in the development of movements, modules, and complications. An integrated bracelet with polished c-shaped links and brushed surfaces brings the watch together, sitting comfortably on the wrist at a very modern size of 42mm. The stainless steel bracelet can be easily replaced with the accompanying dark grey rubber strap.
