The automatic movement is visible through the sapphire crystal back. It is fitted with a degraded black ribbed dial in the classic Nautilus style. ?
?
The watch is complete with all correct boxes and paperwork, including Certificate of Origin and instructions, as one would receive with a brand new watch. ?
?
The original Nautilus was designed by Gerald Genta in the mid 1970s to compete directly with Audemars Piguets Royal Oak (which of course he also designed). This was a time of great change within the watch industry where the concept of a luxury watch in steel was a truly revolutionary idea. These Nautilus watches from the 1970s and 1980s are now cherished by collectors and command very high prices in the vintage market. ?
?
This year being the 40th anniversary of the launch of the Nautilus means there is huge interest in this now iconic design. The complex case and movement of these watches means that production is necessarily limited and demand always exceeds supply.
Viewings can be arranged in Central London by appointment.
